About Dez Walters
Dez Walters started singing and performing before he realised it was
the right thing for him to do.
Between way back then and here right now it’s probably easier to
list the towns, cities and continents he hasn’t worked in or on.
He’s backed and fronted everyone, everywhere - from Jim Glaser and
Billy Joe Spears to George Hamilton IV, Moe Bandy, Tommy Cash, and
Phil Cunningham. The list could go on for a while.
As for influences - if you ask him often enough, he'll jot some of
them down - you would read Clapton, The Eagles and Queen to Django
Reinhart, Earl Scruggs all the way through to Willie Nelson, George
Jones and Merle Haggard. Then hear it in his work. As a songwriter,
he tackles subjects as diverse as international terrorism,
unintentional heartbreak and unconventional sleeping arrangements
while on the road. We don't have enough space here to touch on his
rousing paean to a copyrighted cartoon character or his tales of
mythical Mexican bandits. It's best you hear them first.
A
multi-instrumentalist - he’s equally at home on the guitar, banjo,
steel guitar, mandolin, bass guitar or keyboards. Sadly, not all at the
same time. He recently started playing the guitar he's been building
for far too long and has found he can't put it down.
Forever restless and forever travelling, this unashamed troubadour
and story-teller calls his music his life and Scotland his home.
